Course Description

Mentoring Skills for Kinesiologists

This 1 day course is, suitable for Kinesiologists & Kinesiology Teachers who want to mentor others professionally. This course focuses on giving the tools and techniques to develop excellent quality, constructive conversations and positive outcomes for mentees.

It will help you find ways to hand the issues back to the person and encourage them find the solutions for themselves. Focussing on communication and development of the individual, you will be guided through setting up an appropriate mentoring relationship, eliciting limiting patterns, reframing them and ultimately conducting a session with successful outcomes.

The aim is to facilitate more people to have successful Kinesiology businesses and experiences working with Kinesiology and spread more Kinesiology magic!

What is mentoring?
- Compare and contrast mentoring, coaching and therapy
- Define mentoring and it’s purpose
- Discover what to include in a mentoring session

Understanding Yourself
- Appreciate your own strengths and what you bring to the mentoring relationship
- Identify your key values and beliefs
- Recognise your own development needs and define appropriate goals

Understanding Others
- Change your style of communication in order to accommodate different individuals
- Identify what it is to work in the self- responsibility model
- Recognise the importance & connection between values and beliefs
- Elicit and reframe limiting beliefs

Conducting a mentoring session
- Begin and end the mentoring relationship
- Track a session
- Solve issues related to the mentoring session as they arise
- Evaluate the session

Approach and Learning Outcomes
The approach is very supportive and practical, enabling participants to feel comfortable using proven models for effective mentoring. Both during and after the course, individuals will be able to gauge their mentoring skills and progress.

Case studies form part of the course and participants will be given feedback and support on these if further development is required.  A minimum of three fully completed case studies is required for this course.

It is expected that participants will provide mentoring sessions for each other during the course as part of the course activities.  

Pre requisites
No prerequisites for Certificate of attendance. International Kinesiology College Certification available for Touch For Health Instructors.

Class hours 8 hours
Home study approx. 10 hours

Courses can be “in person” at Freeways, Bristol BS8 3RA or via ZOOM online

Next online dates:
The 1 day course is split into 3 online sessions. In order to successfully pass the course and gain certification you would be required to attend all 3 sessions and complete your home study.

Course fees are £180 per person and include attendance certificate and comprehensive workbook. (IKC Certification is also available for TFH Instructors).
